India Gate: A war memorial arch was
built in honor of 90,000 Indian soldiers who their lives in First
World War. Below it burns the Amar Jawan Joyti, the eternal
flame in tribute to all martyred soldiers of India.

Jantar Mantar Complex: This
observatory was built by Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur. Samrat Yantra
the largest structure is gigantic sundial. The other five
instruments plot the course of the planets and predict eclipses.

Laxmi Narayan Temple: Dedicated to
Laxmi Narayan the main shrine has image of Lord vishnu his
consort Laxmi.

Humayun's Tomb: An elegant example of
early Mughal architecture, the tomb of the second Mughal emperor
also houses the graves of this wives.

Qutab Minar: A soaring stone tower,
72m. high was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1193. The tower has
five distinct stories, each with a projecting balcony. The base of
the tower is 15m in diameter and the top is jut 2.5m in diameter. A
amazing piece of work. at the base is the Quwwat-ul-Islam
Mosque, the first mosque to be built in India. A 7m high iron pillar
stands in the courtyard of the mosque.

Red Fort: A colossal structure
of red sandstone, was built by Shah Jehan in 1638 and was the seat
of Mughal power till the last emperor was dethroned. Inside
the fort are majestic audience halls the Pearl mosque and marble
palaces. An evening sound -and-light show recreates the glory of
India's ancient history.

Rashtrapati Bhavan: Designed by
Lutyens, is the official residence of the President of India. It is
am imposing structure with 340 rooms, constructed high up on Raisina
Hill. On its either side, are the impressive office buildings- North
block and South block. |
